There comes a time when we all have to accept that Health is the most important thing, it is the biggest asset that an individual possess. I am firm believer that only good Education will make a person survive in this world. Perhaps, now it is time we have to realize that Health comes first and then Education comes next, especially at this time where we are all reeling under the unknown and unpredictability of COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019), or we simply call as Corona Virus which have swept across all over the globe since past few months.
It started affecting us since 23 March when Prime Minister first announced lock-down to curb the spread of this deadly virus, which is again extended until 3 May 2020.I am sure you, as a parents, must be having lot of questions as to how classes or the academic calendar of your beloved child will be affected by this. As a head of this institution, I am responsible to answer your questions and clear your doubts.
To answer this, let me start with saying that – as a citizen of this country, we are obliged to follow the instructions/orders of our government, who are working tirelessly to end this global epidemic. As part of this, school are required to close for time being. However, I also believe that it should not lead to entirely compromise with the important academic year of a child.
We have recently, just before the lockdown, started our new session of academic year 2020-21 for primary section up to Class 9 , although many students were yet to report back to boarding as we are residential school .For Class 10 to 12 (Science/Arts/Commerce), new session have not been started. Luckily, we have finished the board examination of Class 10 & 12, except for Class 12 Arts, Geography subject, for which CBSE have not announced the new schedule as of today.
To keep our students engaged with their books, we have already uploaded all the softcopy of NCERT textbooks of Class 1 to 12 in our school website www.slopelandpublicschool.com , click at the section E Learning & Online Study. Many important links related to reference material or solution’s link are also available there, compiled in one single page to have easy access. We are in the process of starting online classes for students through videos link, for which mechanism is all in place, if the situation does not improved. God forbid! As much as it is encouraging to have online class at difficult time like this, I believe there is no substitute of having class in real time.
Now that your child is staying at home with you, please make sure that they are looked after regularly so that they do not stay away from books and other academic related activities. They can practices many beneficial hobbies like reading books, kitchen gardening, instead of being glued at their smartphones all the time. As long as we are using internet and technology wisely, we can do every transactions of our daily life through this medium. As a parent, it is our duty to stay in the same pace, if not ahead, with our child vis-a-vis the evolving use of technology in and around our daily life. We need to update ourselves regularly for that.
Health is the most crucial thing at the moment. While the situation looks encouraging as there are no case in our state at the moment , we must continue to stay at home until government allow us , that’s when it will be safe. I assure you I will inform you soon as we get the green light to open the school. Until then, let’s manage with the material available in the website. Further, if the lockdown is extended beyond, we will go for online class for which you have to register with us to generate a login ID. You can start your registration. For registration, you can contact or whatsapp at +91 9615520109.
Stay at Home, Stay Safe.
