Slopeland Public School 's statement / opinion regarding the current status of Class 12 board of exam , AISSCE - 2021 ( All India Senior School Certificate Examination )
We all know CBSE ( Central Board of Secondary Education ) have called off Class 10 AISSE - 2021 , All India Secondary School Examination , whereas the Class 12 board examination is still on , indicating that there is highly likely that exam will go ahead , amidst this deadly surge of second wave of corona virus.
Personally I would not like the exam to go ahead , as the virus is still at large spred across every corner of our nation. In state like Manipur , where our school is located , the case of positive is increasing daily , more so the mortality rate. I myself was down with the virus for about a month , which was devastating to say the least. I was praying and the only thought that crossed over my mind during that course of horrible time was to get to breath properly without the support of oxygen. Nothing really mattered than that during that course of time. Because of this whole family was also affected mentally and physically. My point , at a time like this , is that most important thing that matter is our health.
I am sure many of the families , who will be appearing Class 12 board exam , might have been affected by this deadly virus for which they would still be struggling to come to term with this. And I am sure many more would be affected by this before or during the course of the examination , if the exam is conducted.
To make the matter worse , prominent doctors are predicting that it will be the children who would be affected the most in the next wave. We have seen many children being affected by this already in this second wave. And they are vulnerable too. The earlier prediction that children are immune to this virus is turning out to be false as we are already seeing high mortality rate of young people and children.
The most important thing is to come to a consensus so that the precious academic year of student is not wasted or delayed. They must be ready with the results so that they can start searching for their colleges / University , for their most important phase of their career , perhaps the most important phase. It will always be debatable how the marks are allotted or how much mark do they score. But extraordinary time calls for extraordinary action. The onus of this can be left to the subsequent college / University , where the student is taking admission. If required , they can bring out their own assessment / test in order to be eligible for admission , of course considering the situation we all have been into. It's global issue , everyone is going through this same tough situation. So I don't think there will be many difficulties to come to a consensus.
To conclude , I would like to emphasize that health is most important thing. So for this session , the exam assessment can b done through the internal marking system. We have already conducted practical examination successfully for which the marks are already submitted to CBSE. We also had good amount of time with the students during the month of December to March , during which we also have conducted lot of exam and test as part of their preparation , including two pre board examinations. So I think we can conduct good assessment tools and evaluate accordingly for their final result , instead of exposing the students at the location of exam center , which in turn expose the teachers also , most importantly the vulnerable elders at home.
If at all the exam is going to be conducted , then I would suggest that all the stakeholders , i.e. the students, teachers and other people who are helping to make the exam success , needs to be vaccinated in priority basis before the exam is conducted. Unless , we can get all the students and teachers vaccinated , I would like to emphasize that exam is evaluated on the basis of their internal marks , for which there are various tools where their assessment can be made in order to make the process more robust and as effective as normal exam assessment.
Stay at Home, Stay Safe.
