It is with immense joy and enthusiasm that I extend my heartfelt greetings to each one of you as the newly appointed Principal of Slopeland Public School. It is truly an honor to become a part of this esteemed institution known for its commitment to success, as the motto slogan of the school is Destination Success, in the field of education since the last quarter of century as a pioneer resident educational institution of Manipur in a very green eco-friendly e-Campus away from the noisy & polluted air from the hectic life of City in Imphal, the capital of our state.
It is only one hour drive from the Imphal International Airport, located along the Asian Highway -1, AH-1, (Indo – Burma Road) at Salt Village, Khongjom, Thoubal District. It lies on the valley of Manipur, on the slope of a small hill just beside the AH-1, before reaching Kakching – a popular township city in the area; and just 15 minutes’ drive from the Thoubal District Centre Township.
First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude for the warm reception and support I have received since joining the Slopeland Public School family as Principal on 5th October 2023, Thursday, on the occasion of UNESCO’s World Teacher’s Day Celebration. Even though I have been here from the last 12 years working as Manager of the school, working mostly behind the scene in administration of the school mostly in automation of the business process & transactions of any sorts, also as a teacher of Math’s, basically teacher cum Manager for more than a decade. So, I know this family / community very well, which is a blessing for me. The sense of community and dedication that I have witnessed here is inspiring, and I am eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of our school.
I would also like to address an important point here about the long-lasting impact these generations of students that they have been through from the past 4 years, 3 years by Corona Virus since early 2020 & the very unfortunate incident of ethnic clash that happened in Manipur in the summer of 2023 that lasted more than 10 months , still continues till early 2024 , with no proper solution seen at the horizon. Education is the one of the most badly affected sector these unforeseen events that have unfolded in the recent past. As a teacher or an educationist, we need to keep this in mind as huge chunk of time, from their academic calendar, is lost due to these factors.
Even though I take pride with that fact that I have personally, as then Manager of the school, overseen whole these process through these tough times, during Corona, implementing online class for all the students using sophisticated software, different from other conventional school in Manipur or even North East India who could not all well adapt during those times when physical connection or interaction was not possible. The online class was such a success that in peak time of Corona, we had enrolment of more than 200 students in Class 11 (Science / Arts / Commerce) alone in online mode in 2020-21 session when there were social distancing rules at its peak as the deadly second wave came. I was sailing the ship through the storm with the help of only 2-3 staffs for more than 800 students & 35 teachers, basically managing or organizing class, school online successfully. It was a great learning experience for me as a Manager of the school. Those tough times taught us that we can easily adapt even in the worst scenario when the interaction of the teachers and students are not possible physically. Also, through the tough and unpredictable times of ethnic violence in Manipur that started in the summer of 2023, we successfully conducted the class smoothly as most of the students are residential, which gives us a great convenience in conducting the classes, amidst all the social chaos. Having said all this, conducting classes through these unpredictable and tough times since last 4 years has not been easy process as it seems. We have to work out of our comfort zone, to make this successful.
As we embark on this new academic journey together, my vision is clear—to cultivate an environment that fosters a love for learning, promotes creativity, and prepares students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I am committed to upholding the high standards set by then the Principal Sir N. Babulin, now the Chairman of the Slopeland Public School Trust & Founder of Eastern Lily Pvt Ltd, and to furthering our reputation as a center of academic excellence & success for all the students, and also the teachers.
Our students are at the heart of everything we do. I am dedicated to providing them with a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment. It is my belief that each student possesses unique talents and potential, and our role as educators is to guide, inspire, and empower them to reach their fullest capabilities.
